McAfee's Knob

Great day today. It really started last night. Four Pines hostel in Catawba was perfect. Got a shuttle to The Homeplace and ate until it hurt. Fried chicken, roast beef, ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, coleslaw, biscuits, beans, apple butter, lemonade and iced tea. And all you can eat! I can't believe they even let us in there.

Then we headed back to hostel for corn hole and beer. Later a bonfire.

Great night sleeping in the barn.

Saw 3 snakes early today, then started running into people. McAfee's Knob is probably the most photographed spot on the AT. Such a cool spot though. Everyone gets a few moments of glory on the point. It makes for a fun atmosphere. I hung out there for nearly 90 minutes. We had a beautiful day. See photos below.

The miles are getting pretty easy...

I plan to take a zero day in Esmont, Va at Salamander Farms. That will be in about 140 miles, near Waynesboro. Probably 8-10 days from now.

Tomorrow the trail goes through Daleville, VA. Little Ceasars is calling my name. I'll eat well and resupply my food bag and get back on the trail by afternoon.

Who knows what's around the next bend...

	I am amazed by your journey! Your writing logs make for great reading...I see wonderful fodder for an article in OUTSIDE. I just read a stat: Each year, thousands of hikers attempt a thru-hike; only about one in four make it all the way.
