Hi, this is Squire. I just retired from the Marine Corps after 23 year of active service. I'm making up family time with my two older boys on the Appalachian Trail and we are having the time of our lives. My 2 boys, Stretch (age 14) and Remix (age 12), and I started our hike on March 16th at Standing Bear (mile 240) and we are Northbound. Midway through our trail, we chose to dedicate our hike to my grandfather who is at the end of a more than decade-long bout with Alzheimer's. We are currently off-trail to attend his pending funeral. I've witnessed what the disease has done to my grandfather and other loved ones and we want to devote our hike to my grandfather by raising money and awareness for Alzheimer's research. less
