Hey everyone! For those of you who know me- I've always been on the search for adventure, bettering the planet, and helping wherever it is needed. This June, I will begin the Appalachian Trail thru-hike in Maine with Jay (my person), and Dave (my brother). We hope to complete the trail around early November in Georgia. I know many of you are interested in giving back to the community- so we decided to put some greater purpose behind this journey (aside from the probable life-changing experience of 5 months in the forest). We encourage anyone interested to sponsor. Although this is my personal page, Dave and Jay will also have charities they will be hiking to support- so you'll have plenty of options. Knowing that we are not only hiking for our own reasons, but for helping a greater cause, will give us even more motivation on the harder days. I personally chose two of my favorite charities for the donations to benefit. The first is The Water Project- providing clean and accessible water to millions across Sub-Saharan Africa. The second is Doctors Without Borders-an international humanitarian project providing medical care across countries to those who need it most. Both are amazing charities, that I'd personally love to get more involved with. I personally donate monthly to Human Rights Campaign (champions for the LGBTQ+ community) and Children International (super proud of my sponsored child who is growing up so fast). I will continue to donate while on the trail- so I promise I'm not just leaving the charitable donations to everyone else. This is more an opportunity for anyone to cheer us on during the hike, while knowing that with every mile you will be contributing to something greater! Keep in mind the App Trail stretches 2190 miles- for those of you pledging per mile. Don't forget- between the three of us, we will be regularly posting updates to Facebook or Instagram (every few days, so people know we're still alive and well). Again, for those interested in sponsoring- we won't let you down, and these organizations are more than amazing! For those who'd rather not sponsor- warm wishes are always appreciated!
