We are Gavin (Tea/Time) Thomas and Emma (Peak) Guerrero. We are engaged and set to get married in the fall. But before getting married we decided that we didnt know each other quite well enough and should probably hike 2190 miles together before tying the knot. Although this adventure is exciting for us, we wanted to do something to make sure our six months of vagabonding was not a completely selfish act. We are hiking on behalf of Bread For the City, a DC based non profit. Bread For the City provides all kinds of social services on behalf of in need DC residents. Washington DC is a city that is gentrifying at a very high speed and the existence of organizations such as Bread For the City are so important to make sure that local residents are not forgotten. Emma did an internship with them on their rooftop educational garden, and we have both volunteered to harvest veggies for their food bank. All that being said... we would appreciate any type of sponsorship of our hike towards this organization. If we manage to raise any money for this cause at all, our six months will have been a bigger success than we could have imagined. less
