Sad news

- Mile ??? - Aug 10_th, 2016

Unfortunately we had to do 26 miles in one day at hat creek rim because of water shortage near the beginning of the hike. My knee had been hurting for a few days and the day after that stretch I could barely walk because of my ankle. I wanted to wait and do this journal entry after I saw the doctor so I could tell everyone exactly what's wrong. Basically my knee cap was grinding on the cartilage behind it and that ended up putting strain on the whole leg. I have a swollen tendon in my knee and I think my Achilles tendon in my ankle was probably strained, so I am not returning to the trail. I want to really thank everyone for all of their support. I may not have made it far, but I was reminded of what an incredibly kind and generous community of people I have in my life. My last day on the trail was beautiful with a perfect view of Mt. Lassen and Mt. Shasta
