@trailjess here! I'm so thrilled to be hiking the AT from Maine to Georgia this summer and fall. Throughout my life, I've tried to serve the community I'm in, wherever that may be. HikeFor gives me a way to contribute while I spend the next six months hiking 2,189 miles. However, to make this work, I need your help!
The International Rescue Committee (IRC) has been responding to the world's worst humanitarian crises since WWII. Promoting economic well-being, education, health, and safety, the IRC was founded with Albert Einstein's call to action: "Strange is our situation here on Earth. Each of us comes for a short visit, not knowing why, yet sometimes seeming to divine a purpose. From the standpoint of daily life, however, there is one thing we do know: that man is here for the sake of other men." I hope to spread his message by hiking for the IRC's cause!
Donating even one cent per mile to the IRC has a profound effect on the organization. If I complete this hike, that's just $21.89 (a week of Starbucks coffees) that will all be used to protect and promote sustainability and save the lives of refugees and humans in need all around the world. If financial donations are not an option for you, I encourage you to donate your support in the form of kind words by commenting on this page, emailing, texting or calling me!
