I have three passions in my life: people, sports and nature. Last year, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine, solely for myself. Looking back at the experience, I realized my need to prove to myself I could accomplish something of that magnitude. For my next hike, the Pacific Crest Trail (PCT), I want to include my passion for people and sports. I love people, regardless of their ability, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time volunteering with Special Olympic athletes. This organization has a fantastic mission in serving people of varying abilities with opportunities to grow from the interaction between athletes and volunteers from the community. Therefore, my next goal is to hike the PCT to promote the awareness of Special Olympics. less
