Hey there! I'm Jessie; an otherwise stable individual who is choosing to live homeless in the woods for five months. I've always been fond of walking, long distance, in the mud, with bugs. I've been planning to take a hike like this since I was about 12, and I figured why not bring attention to two causes that I very much care about. The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping to restore people devastated by conflict. The war in Syria these past five years has displaced over 11 million people. When those people are forced from their homes they go sometimes by foot, carrying everything they have on their back. In that sense they are like hikers, except I am doing this by choice, with the best gear I can buy. When I get to a town I'm not denied basic human dignity, and I actually know where I'll end up. These people have none of those assurances, so let's give them a hand where we can. The other cause I'm supporting is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. My grandmother has lived with MS for the past 45 years. Having grown up watching her deal with it, MS is a hell I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. Please help me support the search for a cure. less
