Beginnings

Asheville, NC - Mile ??? - Dec 5th, 2014

I admit, I'm cliche, and I'm ok with that. I frequently go to the movies alone and tonight I went to see WILD. I'm sure by now you've heard of it. It was the most inspiring movie I've ever seen, about a woman that completed the Pacific Crest Trail with no prior hiking experience. If you haven't seen the movie, seek it or the book out. It changed my life.
As soon as the credits came on, I said to myself - "I'm going to do that. Its what I'm meant to do."
So I mustered up my Scorpion determination and began to read, study about backpacking, and take local hikes. I have found myself at peace in the woods. One of the most impressive experiences have been the sounds. The sounds of wind, rain, silence, water flowing. Sometimes I just stop and listen and let the sound flow through me. We don't get to hear things like this in our out of the woods lives.
I know I'm looking to find something out in those woods as I take each step on this 300 journey. No idea what it is, but it will come to me. I peacefully await!
