I am an avid hiker and Psychologist who is taking time off to fulfill my childhood dream of thruhiking the entire Appalachian Trail and to do it for a cause I care about.
Being in nature has always been so tied to my mental health, I wanted to get a chance to give back to the charity of my choice: The National Alliance on Mental Illness. NAMI is a great advocacy group that tries to get information out there about mental health, support people struggling with mental illness, and reduce stigma. Out of all the ways we can support those with mental illness, I believe changing our views on mental illness and connecting those who suffer from it will do the most good.
So, please take a look and pledge the number of cents or dollars you would like to give per mile. It would be a big motivator for me and a big help to reach people who feel alone in their struggles. less
