My name is Kenny and this is my second Long Trail hike! The first one was in 2015 and while I never thought I would go back, The Long Trail of beautiful Vermont calls! Even louder of a call is from the charity for which I have chosen to raise funds this time - Mission 22. Fundraising during my first hike benefited The Trevor Project and was a huge success with almost $3,400 raised! Mission 22 was formed to recognize the 22 post-war veterans that take their lives - each day. This staggering statistic has motivated me to do what I can to save a life that has given his or hers for our freedoms, now suffering from the perils of war and its crushing affect on mental health. When I began fundraising in March, I set a goal of $5000. Thanks to the support of over to be pledged by August 20, 2018 and thanks to the generosity of 70 sponsors, I reached that goal mid-July. Chugging along and checking in!

Hyde Away Inn, Waitsfield VT - Mile 165 - Sep 10_th, 2018

Hooooooo weeee! Another week of ups and downs, literally and figuratively! This week took me from Killington to Waitsfield, crossing the HALFWAY point at Hancock, VT! Only major hiccup so far is a pretty painful pinched nerve in my neck that I cannot seem to shake no matter what I do (off trail massage, medication, stretching) so that makes nights hard as the muscles tense as I try to sleep and I awake in pain throughout. Other than that, it was a week of beautiful views,

making new trail friends and personal moments that will last a lifetime. With every step, I still marvel that this project is $8,300 strong in pledges to help our post-war vets get the help they need! Climates took me from energy zapping humidity

in the high 80s to bone chilling winds atop mountains that left me in hat, gloves, long johns and multiple layers. I left the Appalachian Trail at Killington

which brought me through the most mentally challenging part of the trail as you hike alone a lot more and the real climbs begin. At the end of the week I was really happy to hit the COLD as it really makes the day easier. As the trail end of a big storm hit the area I was happy to be back at the Hyde Away Inn in Waitsfield where I am re-supplying and having a night in a bed. I want to put a big thank you out there to my partner in crime Alex for being my rock and arranging for emergencies supplies I needed, never ending moral support and understanding with this whole project! 	Wow youâ€™ve already made great progress and youâ€™re looking great! How cool to be able to come across new people along the way (props for being able to resist the temptation of getting a tat on the trail)! What an awesome idea the tattoo guy had though- to give someone a permanent memory and reminder of all the time spent hiking on the trail and the passion and dedication it takes!
