After many years of backpacking in my younger years, I have now retired and I am returning, as an Older Women Backpacking To teach inspire and motivate women to pursue their backpacking dreams. The Lone Star Hiking Trail is a wonderful Texas hiking only trail of a minimum of 96 miles long. Volunteers are organized by same name club and the trail is kept in hiking conditions with funds raised, memberships and donations, and the countless of hours of trail work done by volunteers. A friend and I will be spending approximately 10 consecutive days and backpack from the Eastern terminus to the West, this year October 19th and thru hike the Lone Star Trail. The town of Evergreen has the fire department providing search and rescue and a church providing us hikers with precious water This fund raiser will be equally divided in my chosen three causes. less

Essential to communities being lifted out of poverty are holistic programs that address not just the physical needs of currently struggling communities but their spiritual and psychological needs. A2S envisions communities in which individuals can be productive members of society, living with mutual respect and love for one another. less
