Hello! My name is Sara and I'll be thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail this year. I am 23 and originally from Maine, though now residing in Tennessee. I grew up with a love of the outdoors and nature. Today I don't think that enough people are making time, or an effort, to get outside and explore this beautiful world. My hike is partially to raise awareness of how easy it is to get outside, and how great you'll feel if you do. I'm also at a crossroads in my life. Switching career fields and trying to decide exactly what I want my life to be. I find clarity in nature, so I'm hoping that this 2,190 mile walk home to Maine will create some of that. I am so excited to meet new people along the way, and experience the simplicity that is the trail. I'd love for you all to follow along with me while I take this long walk in the woods! less
