It's almost here

So this is pretty crazy..
I can't believe this time next week I'll actually be hiking on the AT. Today is the first day in all of my months of research and preparation that I actually have the jitters. I went to bed feeling pretty anxious last night and actually dreamt my ride to Georgia fell through and I was calling random people in my phone to score a ride.
I took a very snowy drive down to the closest REI (about 2 hours away) to get alllll the final touches and other miscellaneous things. LUCKILY I was able to sit in a (full) class there called The Thru Hikers Secret". It was put on by this rad guy who hiked the AT twice.. pretty incredible. It basically just expanded on things I already knew and it was super informative. A lot of good mental advice which is huge. Postcard (his trail name) was able to answer my question about my loud papery, crinkly, piece of tyvek home wrap that I'm using as a footprint/sitting pad/hitching sign/honk if you love jerry Garcia sign
.
Leaving Monday for D.C., then the journey south begins. Happy trails to everyone already on the AT and to those who are also approaching their start date.
Cheers,
Carla
PS- I think waiting to earn my trail name is what I'm looking forward to most... that and eating pasta sides shamelessly for dinner every night
oh and also cosmic brownies too.. (little debbie brownies Mikey LOL)
